1990 classic Amiga game - simulators
As they say in France, air force and navy can be cute, but the boots on the ground win the wars. I don’t know why they say that, but that’s the story I’m going with. In Team Yankee you are put in charge of a company of armoured vehicles, and given the task to guide them though a World War III-like conflict. You have 4 platoons of 4 vehicles each, they might be M1 Abrams tanks, M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and M113 carriers. While the Abrams have their big guns, the other vehicles have TOW missiles, which can be used to attack the approaching enemy. While the basic mode of the game is, more or less, tactical, there are some bits of the game that are strategy-like and simulation-like. And why "-like"? Because you are setting some basic orders for the units (like changing formation, speed of their movement, set waypoints) and at the same time you have to switch between them in order to actually fire or detect enemy. You can achieve that by using the split-screen (which leaves a lot to the imagination) or switch the view between the platoon leaders (but you can only see one out of four units). It’s hard to describe Team Yankee in a short form, because despite its simplicity it was a well developed game that would keep you occupied for hours.
