1994 classic Amiga game - adventure games
A game that reflects the knowledge of American ufologists (or at least people who consider themselves as such). The X-Com organization is engaged in tracking unidentified flying objects in the Earth’s atmosphere. If they manage to shoot one down or catch one on the ground, they immediately send a team of soldiers to collect all the things that are left of the Aliens, possibly their corpses, and preferably living individuals. This is just the beginning, because over time there are more and more Alien ships, they are getting bigger, they carry more and more dangerous races on board, and on top of that they start to establish underground bases on the surface of the Earth. As if that were not enough, X-Com’s funds depend on the mood in individual countries and on how well they are protected by us. The game combines strategy and shooting with a division into turns. In addition to fighting in places of crashed ships, we also have to save cities attacked by Aliens, take over their technology, improve our equipment, plan the location of the next bases, search for and destroy Alien bases. The visuals are not the game’s strongest point, but thanks to the extraordinary atmosphere and high playability, UFO: Enemy Unknown is one of the best games in Amiga history.

MicroProse problemsDuring the production of UFO: Enemy Unknown MicroProse was already in a difficult financial situation and the company was preparing for merger with, or rather to be takeover by, Spectrum HoloByte. Originally the project was put on hold during the negotiations, but the creators decided to work on it anyway, so the new owners would be put in front of an already finished project, so they could find it harder cancel the whole thing.
