1992 classic Amiga game - football management games
The most famous football management game for Amiga, although it was visually not particularly appealing, the way the matches were shown were far from being impressive, and still Championship Manager left its competitors way behind mainly due to the number of available options. It is true that some important bits were missing (for example training or more advanced economic options), but the game was concentrating on the team itself. First of all various forms of transfers were available: not only definitive transfers, but also loans, free transfers, transfers from foreign clubs, reserve team. The second important elements was the number of options to manage players, f.e. the insurance in case of injury, the morale of the players was quite well simulated and the impact of their characters. Since the game engine itself was quite simple season did not last quite as long as in some other games, which gave us the chance to observe the development of players. And it was one of the strong points of the game - every player had a full record of his career, where season after season was recorded in which the club he played, how many games, how many goals he scored, average ratings he received - it gave a lot of data when you search for good players and you can examine not only their current form, but also their past. Automatically picked national teams were also important - players gained experience in them, but also could become new target for transfer approaches. Championship Manager was another seemingly simple game that was perhaps not particularly impressive on first glance, but really gave the feeling of running the club - and to such an extent that even we could pursue our own career, which meant that during the season we could have resign from the current club (or be fired) and wait for an offer from another. The classic game, which until now could be a model for developers.
