Online basketball managerEuropean basketball manager - build your own club
1995 classic Amiga game - football management games
Top of the League was British soccer manager game concentrating on the English league and typical scenario - work your way up from 3rd division to Premiership to fight for the title. But approach to this scenario was slightly different than in other games - while most of similar games were trying not to flood player with too many data in Top of the League you get a lot of data to get through and several options that were not available in other games. Even when you take a look at the staff hiring screen you can see the difference - you not only can hire head coach, youth team coach, but also dietician, formations coaches, promotions manager and even hypnotherapist. Similar story with the team selecting - it is not exactly simple, but you build a formation by selecting the players and placing them on specific position. When you play a match you get every single detail of the ongoing match, you get full statistics, full statistics for each player and the summary for the whole team. The creators chose not the best way to control the game (via joystick only) and gave the user a lot of data to work on, which is fine, but unfortunately not much fun. You can buy foreign players, you can delve into financial options, scout analysis, individual training details, but overall the game turned out to be a dud - too complicated, overloaded with data and with match engine taking far too long to play a single match.
