1996 classic Amiga game - football management games
Sensible World of Soccer was game based on one of the best Amiga soccer games, Sensible Soccer. But while Sensible Soccer gave the opportunity to play the matches and take part in the competitions (one season) Sensible World of Soccer was extending the options into the area of club management. We were still able to play the matches and take part in the competition, but this time we had real divisions from different countries available, the game was almost endless, so we could have play many seasons, also the whole world was (more or less) simulated. And that last point meant that not only we could have make the transfer deals with all the clubs taking part in the game, but also there were career opportunities - if our skills were good enough we could have been offered the chance to be offered job in some bigger team, even in different country. Of course the managerial options were limited (only transfer deals, youth players), the player skills were shown as three letters signalling in which fields he is the best (H - heading, P - passing, V - speed, T - tackling, S - shooting), but the value of the player shown what level of skills he actually reached. For example two players with the skills marked as SPV would signal they are good in shooting, passing and are quite fast, but if one of them is worth 25,000 pounds and the other is worth 1,000,000 pounds it is quite clear which one has better level of those skills, although they both have the same strong points. Even as manager we could have watched the games being played, but unfortunately in practice it was not the option, rather necessity, since the auto-play function was generating practically random result of the game. Nevertheless Sensible World of Soccer was great extension to great soccer game and still has fans around the world.
