The Manager Classic Amiga game

1991 classic Amiga game -

German football manager game that was such success with Bundesliga simulation that later was adapted for English league. The player data available were typical in German games (only fitness, skill and form), the team selection was simplified, the training was simplified (using balls you chose the priorities for the coach), but what made the game such success was the match engine. No, basing on so few parameters it could hardly be called precise simulation, but the way the situations were presented was a novelty. The complexed animations that had different endings (sometimes suggesting that one team will have the chance, but in fact it turns out it is a counter-attack and the other team will attempt to score) was a perfect solution.

Of course the data you can get from the animations is limited (only goal scorer is given and player, who assisted), the individual data are not gathered (like ratings, passing or shooting statistics), which was a drawback, but additional managerial options were available that made the whole game seem more attractive. Among those options were sponsorship deals, training camps, transfers, investments in youth team, unlimited options to create a formation for the match.

Classic game that was a great success, despite limitations in player data and statistics, the game had good atmosphere and was quite addictive.
